Researchers modeled the role of hydrogen in economy

An international research team led by Prof. Bob van der Zwaan from the University of Amsterdam has analyzed the potential of the 'hydrogen economy' in achieving a sustainable society. Their study, published in Nature Communications, models pathways for decarbonizing the European economy by 2050. The findings indicate that electrification will be the most cost-effective energy source, accounting for about 60% of final energy consumption, while direct hydrogen use is projected to contribute only 6-10%.
