Denmark's Energy Agency has approved Nord Stream 2 pipeline construction in the Baltic Sea, southeast of the island of Bornholm. This particular pipeline segment is 147 kilometres long. Two thousand one hundred kilometres of pipeline have already been completed in Russian, Finnish and Swedish waters. Another segment off northern Germany is almost complete. The pipeline is being constructed by the Russian company Gazprom, but half of its 8 billion euro funding is coming from Gazprom's European partners: Shell, BASF, Uniper, Wintershall and ENGIE. The Nord Stream 2 pipeline largely follows the route of the existing Nord Stream conduit. Each pipelines has an annual capacity of 55 billion cubic metres.
